Over a decade ago we hosted our signature annual Lollapolasia event at
2047 North Milwaukee Avenue to a crowd of 3,000 nightclub enthusiasts.
Just 6 months ago we hosted soft pre-opening event introducing its new
incarnation before officially open to the masses. After taking our
2009 Saturday night onto a very diverse road from the rawness of the
BOOM in Bucktown to the upscale Ultralounge at the Sax, an evolution
was eminent for 2010. That evolution took us back to the one place
that could properly contain the masses all about the party as well as
the masses looking for a place sophisticated enough for their Sunday
best. Rest assured, with 300,000 watts pumping across 50 VIP tables,
the combination of party and posh is sure to satisfy all.

For those longing for the old Shelter days -- that late-night 1990s club that put Chicago on an international nightlife map -- famed restaurateur Jerry Kleiner offers the next best thing in the Warehouse District. The old Shelter had a Victor Hotel sign hanging in the VIP room, and Kleiner (who also owns Marche and Red Light in the West Loop) has resurrected it. Housed in an ancient freezer building, Victor Hotel serves as Kleiner's offbeat version of a hotel lobby lounge. Quirky, contemporary furniture (designed by Charles and Ray Eames), concrete floors, Barcelona chairs, stainless steel doors, eye-catching oil paintings and hundreds of black-and-white photographs add to the whimsical decor that's become known as the ''Kleiner touch.'' Each room offers a unique atmosphere, from chic Euro-style to exotic Asian. Hungry hipsters can munch on light appetizers ranging from chilled beef carpaccio, jumbo shrimp cocktail and sashimi tuna tartar to a selection of toasted Italian-style sandwiches.

Dress: If, by any chance, you happen to know Donna Karan, you might want to call in a few favors before heading to this super-swanky West Loop lounge. Servers may look like they just walked out of an old James Bond film (leather mini-skirts with attached halter tops), but the crowd is as modern as they come: lots of black, lots of nylon and lots and lots of hair product.

Vibe: The only thing missing to perfect a "London, 1968" motif are skinny models in heavy mascara and pageboy haircuts chain-smoking Benson & Hedges. Professional-looking patrons chat discreetly over Eames-style chairs and oblong glass tables, some munching on tuna tartare, others nursing apple martinis.

Quick tour: A former meat-locker, the Victor Hotel boasts three divinely retro bars that seem to extend into the abyss and are amplified by sleek tile floors and alabaster rafters. Photographs straight out of Oui magazine dot chicly painted walls that pave the way toward some kind of super-modish epicenter. Two large palms stand vanguard over the lounge's premier bar, casting shadows over deco-ish banquettes and crimson colored barstools. Crowds meander from one room to the other, so it always seems much less crowded than it really is.

Night to go: The question isn't so much the best night to go (Saturday, obviously), but rather the time to go. Arrive before 9 p.m. and you may end up conversing with your own echo. Get there after 11 p.m., and you'll have trouble wading through the bar lines. Just arrive around 10 p.m. and soak in the artsy, retro atmosphere.

Claim to fame: Please. It's the new Jerry Kleiner place. The restaurant mogul behind such gastronomic powerhouses as Gioco and Marche pulled out all the stops at this low-key chill spot. But if lounges aren't your thing, at least come see the rotating art displays, some of the best the Chicago modern art scene has to offer.

You'll feel like you're in: A Fleet Street nightclub during the summer of love.

With Friday spots often trying to bring the same glitz and glam for which Saturdays are known, on the night after turkey-day we let guys loosen that belt a notch (or two) and give the girls a chance to choose the comfy dress over the slinky one. Missed more from the Buzz/UniPhunk days of old is the come-as-you-are scene where everyone came correct, but mainly came to party. For one night, IT IS BACK.

East Coast's DJ CHRISMIX >>
Charter UniPhunk resident, Chrismix, returns to Chicago and his familiar Friday decks to setup a night not soon forgotten. The Black Wednesday party, as crazy as it is sure to be, only sets up a bigger Friday reunion. Without the onslaught of headliners vying for turntable-time, Chrismix is double down on an extended opening performance. Check in EARLY, as he sets up what will be the event of the season. And yes, it will be an extended video performance.

West Coast's BARTENDER BEX >>
The next Buzz/UniPhunk resident in for the big event is Vegas' Sexy Bexy. For years she manned Buzz's infamous back bar serving up her famed "Sex on Bex" (the drink boys). Thanksgiving Friday she's back with the same fierceness that fueled phunk for years.

Hosts ROMA and ANN >>
While we all surely have a blurry night or two (or 30) from those crazed years of excess, not soon forgotten is the welcome wagon at the door (though maybe because we were far more sober walking in...lol). Roma will great you at the door to make sure you are good from the moment you step in, and Ann will be taking it from there handling any bottle service needs you may have.

Relative to downtown prices, EVERYTHING is on special. This isn't the night to pay $12 for valet and another $12 for your favorite drink. We are rolling back the prices along with the time. Ample street parking is available. Hosted bar packages start at $30 from 11-2am, and that includes domestics. There aren't many venues that can come close to creating the unique energy that was The Buzz/UniPhunk Phridays for from 2003-2008. While nothing ever truly replaces something loved, there are things that can spark its memory. If you ever came to the insanity that was Buzz for over 4 1/2 years, you will not want to miss this night. With 1,000-1,400 UniPhunk attendees a week, for one night we ignite that spark and celebrate something loved by so many.
